NMFTA has recently announced it will make major changes to the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC)® system, which has historically been complex. With the new changes, we are striving to streamline your experience in classifying LTL freight and are committed to working with the industry to make the transition smooth.
As these changes will have significant impacts on your business operations, processes, and potentially financials, it is important you and your customers attend the industry-specific LTL Listening Sessions, which will be led by the NMFC team.

FCDC Disposition of Docket 2024-2
Now Available
The Disposition Bulletin 1369, containing the proposed amendments discussed by the Freight Classification Development Council (FCDC) at its public meeting on June 3, 2024, is ready to view.
Dispositions resulting in amendments to the NMFC will be published in a supplement.
The supplement is scheduled to be issued on July 3, 2024, effective August 3, 2024.

Register Now for Fall Meeting
NMFTA will be hosting three days of meetings and social activities offering many forums for discussion of issues important to the LTL motor carrier industry. Register now for the upcoming meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, Arlington, VA from September 29–October 1, 2024.
NEW: Price Increase for Interpretation Requests, Effective July 1
Earlier this month, NMFTA announced a price increase for its interpretation's requests.
This change will only impact companies that are currently not participating in the NMFC.
Our classification experts are available to help carriers, shippers, and 3PLs determine the correct classification (NMFC provision) for any given commodity. Simply book an interpretation here, through the NMFTA store.
Early Career Professionals: Demystify NMFTA and Classification
The SMC³ LTL Online Education Hybrid Series unpacks the fundamentals of freight classification and the role of the NMFTA in the LTL industry. NMFTA's Larissa Franklin and Adam Mercer will address attendees during the July 25 event.
This session is part of SMC³'s certification in LTL (CLTL) program. You must register for the entire program to take part in this session.

AAA Cooper Transportation's Charlie Prickett and Reid Dove Promotion

Reid Dove, chief executive officer at AAA Cooper Transportation, announced earlier this month the planned succession of current president and chief operating officer, Charlie Prickett, into the role of CEO. Prickett has been the president and COO for the last 14 years and has been with the company for 22 years. Dove has held the CEO role for the last 24 years and has been with the company for 30 years. Dove will be moving into the role of Chairman and will continue to serve on the Board of Directors at the parent company, Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings.
