Passing of Past NMFTA Board Member John Roswick

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our past board member, John Roswick. Final NMFC Changes List Available to Download

In response to feedback we have received since the release of Docket 2025-1 on January 30 we are releasing a final version of the spreadsheet that details items that appear on the docket.  This list only references specific items that may be affected by proposals in the 2025-1 docket and does not include any Notes, Generic Headings, Subgeneric Headings, or items that will be assigned the handling, stowability, and liability indicator.

The FCDC is currently collecting feedback on the proposal and will make a final determination on each proposal after the FCDC Public Meeting on March 3, 2025.  This list is provided so that interested parties can analyze how the proposed changes may affect them once the 2025-1 docket goes into effect.

FCDC Public Meeting Structure

The FCDC public meeting on March 3, 2025 will be structured to ensure we efficiently review and address all feedback on the 99 proposals in Docket 2025-1. To facilitate this, NMFTA will run the meeting a little differently.

Proposals will be addressed in groups of 10, allowing for a more organized discussion. We will only discuss proposals for which we received feedback, ensuring that our time is spent on the most relevant and actionable items. After each group of ten proposals is presented, we will open the floor for public comment, providing an opportunity for attendees to share their thoughts before proceeding to the next set.

This structured approach will help us stay on track while ensuring that all feedback is properly considered. We appreciate your participation and look forward to a productive discussion.

ClassIT+ Updates

License Agreements Now Available

NMFTA understands that purchasing software is a multi-step process. To support this, last month, we released the pricing for ClassIT+, and this month, we are making the license agreement and terms and conditions available. Our goal is to ensure that purchasers have ample time to review the details and ask any questions they may have before moving forward. For those interested in purchasing ClassIT+ or the ClassIT+ API, now is the perfect time to familiarize yourself with the terms, conditions, and integration requirements. This preparation will allow you to maximize the benefits of ClassIT+ from day one.

What You Missed at SMC3

SMC3 was an incredibly exciting milestone, marking one year since Keith Peterson and I stood before a crowd and announced significant changes to freight classification and the launch of a modern technology stack to support it. Our vision included simplifying classification, introducing a new product, embracing dimensioners, and fostering open communication. Looking back, I could never have imagined the progress we would make in just a year.

Keith and I presented the 2025-1 docket to a packed house, where the audience was highly engaged and receptive to the changes. The rest of the event was spent meeting with carriers, shippers, and brokers alongside Holly with ClassIT+ and  classification with Keith. The response to ClassIT+ was overwhelmingly positive—it was intuitive, modern, and easy to use. Demonstrated on tablets and prominently featured with its own banner, the tool received stellar feedback from attendees.
